British dance-pop sensation Little Boots has announced the upcoming release of her much-anticipated EP, “ILLUMINATIONS.” This exclusive U.S.-only EP will be released on Elektra Records June 9th.
“ILLUMINATIONS” serves as an ideal introduction to Little Boots’ acclaimed brand of futuristic electro-pop. The five-track EP features rare and exclusive tracks alongside the new single, “New In Town,” and the irrepressible anthem, “Stuck on Repeat,” which started it all (full track listing below). Both singles will be included on Little Boots’ eagerly awaited full-length debut, “HANDS,” due later this year.
In addition, “ILLUMINATIONS” features an exclusive digital booklet and the striking “New In Town” music video, directed by Jake Nava (Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Britney Spears). The clip is streaming now at Little Boots’ official MySpace page, located at www.myspace.com/littlebootsmusic.
Little Boots – known to her friends and family as Victoria Hesketh – will herald the release of “ILLUMINATIONS” with a very special U.S. live performance. The one-night-only event is slated for New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge on Monday, May 18th. An additional series of North American dates will be announced shortly.
Little Boots is without question the most talked-about new UK pop star of the year. The Blackpool-born Hesketh first captured attention as a member of electro-indie combo Dead Disco. Opting to pursue a solo career as Little Boots, she assembled an arsenal of synths and began airing her developing work on YouTube for all to see.
Despite not yet having a proper single to her name, Little Boots came in at #1 on the BBC’s influential “Sound of 2009” survey, a sentiment uniformly agreed upon by most every other British media outlet. And no wonder – tracks like “Stuck On Repeat” and the limited edition debut club pounder, “Meddle,” are imaginative and intense, with melancholic tension and an effortless way with hooks.
Here in the U.S., Little Boots has already drawn unprecedented acclaim for an artist yet to release a debut album. “(Hesketh) writes exquisitely constructed pop songs so innately appealing,” wrote New York Magazine, “you’re certain you danced to them at your prom.” “Little Boots strapped on glittery frocks and blew away the crowd at Perez Hilton’s party with her super-catchy futuristic disco,” raved Rolling Stone in its coverage of this year’s South By Southwest extravaganza. In addition, Hesketh recently made her U.S. television debut as the sole guest on an installment of NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly.
