Kylie Minogue- X (a little more info)

KYLIE MINOGUE RETURNS WITH X — FIRST NEW STUDIO ALBUM IN FOUR YEARS TO BE RELEASED BY ASTRALWERKS / CAPITOL RECORDS ON APRIL 1ST, 2008

First U.S. Single “All I See” Features New York Rapper MIMS

On April 1st, American fans of international pop superstar Kylie Minogue will finally get a chance to hear what the rest of the world is already buzzing about when Astralwerks / Capitol Records releases X — the multi-platinum icon’s tenth studio album and first all-new set of songs since 2003’s Body Language.

Hailed by British music bible Q as “a radiant collection of euphoric, occasionally dreamlike electro-pop,” X finds Minogue pairing her breathy, elegant vocals with sexy, stylish synths and minimalist beats on such irresistible dancefloor fillers as “2 Hearts,” “Wow,” “In My Arms,” and “All I See,” a bonus track featuring New York rapper MIMS. Minogue, who shares songwriting credit on seven of the album’s 13 tracks, collaborated with a host of top-notch songwriters and producers, including Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams, Natasha Bedingfield), Cathy Dennis (Britney Spears, Spice Girls) and Bloodshy & Avant (Madonna, Britney Spears). The digital version of the album will also feature “Magnetic Electric,” a bonus track available exclusively on iTunes. Already certified platinum in the U.K. and Australia, X is also Minogue’s first album since undergoing treatment for breast cancer, which cut short her spectacular “Showgirl: The Greatest Hits Tour” in 2005.

“This album is much more of a celebration than anything I’ve done before, with some room for reflection as well,” Minogue says. “I started work on it a year and a half ago when recording was far off in the future, because no one wanted to pressure me. But I had to get back into the studio just to test myself and get some things off my chest, which I did. To finish was a great relief and an inspiration in that I knew, ‘This is what I do and this is what I love doing.’ It has its challenges, but I’m ready for more.”

Over the course of her extraordinary 20-year-career, Minogue has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and scored 46 hit singles, including five Top Ten dance-chart singles in the U.S.: “I Should Be So Lucky,” “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” “Love At First Sight,” “Slow,” and “I Believe In You.” She also won a Grammy Award for “Best Dance Recording” for “Come Into My World” in 2003. Minogue has performed for royalty, inspired a 2007 costume exhibition at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, and had her likeness replicated in wax four times by the world-famous Madame Tussaud’s (only Queen Elizabeth II has had more models created).

Minogue shows no signs of slowing down in 2008. She began the year being honored by the Queen with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for her services to music, and has already earned a host of honors for X, including a BRIT Award for “Best International Female Solo Artist.” In May, she will hit the road for a three-month, 50-date European tour, entitled KYLIEX2008.

Kylie Minogue will visit the U.S. the week of X’s release starting March 31st with an exclusive, live, sit down interview with Matt Lauer on NBC’s Today Show. On April 1st, the pop icon will make a very special performance on ABC’s hit show Dancing With the Stars, where she will perform X’s lead-off U.S. single, “All I See,” marking Kylie’s first U.S. television performance since the release of 2003’s Body Language.

The U.S. track-listing for X is as follows:
“2 Hearts” / “Like A Drug” / “In My Arms” / “Speakerphone” / “Sensitized” /
“Heart Beat Rock” / “The One” / “No More Rain” / “All I See” / “Stars” / “Wow” /
“Nu-di-ty” / “Cosmic” / *U.S. Bonus Track: “All I See” featuring MIMS

GEORGE MICHAEL ANNOUNCES FIRST NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN OVER 17 YEARS, A NEW ALBUM AND MAKES AMERICAN ACTING DEBUT

New York, NY (March 24, 2008) – After performing 80 shows in 12 European countries for a staggering 1.3 million fans over the past year alone, legendary superstar George Michael will be bringing his smash 25 LIVE tour to North American Arenas in the summer of 2008 in support of his new retrospective record. This will be Michael's first North American tour in 17 years. The new record, titled Twenty-Five, will be released April 1st and is a 29-song, 2-CD set featuring six new songs (including duets with superstars Paul McCartney and Mary J. Blige and a song from the Eli Stone finale, “Feeling Good”) in addition to many of Michael's iconic songs from both his solo and WHAM! career. In addition, a companion 2-disc DVD of 40 videos will also be made available.

The 25 LIVE tour broke several ticket sales records, most notably in Copenhagen. Michael's concert at The Parken Stadium sold over 50,000 tickets in the matter of minutes, shattering the previous ticket sales record at the venue, formerly held by U2. On the 25 LIVE tour, Michael left both fans and critics alike in awe:

"It was a master class in pop genius." - The Observer

"George proved he is simply one of the best vocalists this country has ever produced. A stunning performance." - The Sun

"Worth waiting for. The show was, in every single meaning of the word, perfect." - De Morgen

"A tremendous singer, a complete showman, all George Michael needs is a mike, his songs, and the magic on stage is instantaneous." - La Parisien

The North American leg of the 25 LIVE tour will kick off in San Diego on June 17th and will continue through San Jose, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York and several other major cities. The tour will incorporate 22 shows over the course of seven weeks and Michael will perform material taken from the entire span of his career, including some classic Wham! tracks. Michael has recently teamed up with iTunes and Ticketmaster to produce an innovative media package which allows fans rare access to Michael’s videos, songs, and tickets to one of his North American 25 LIVE concerts. The package goes on sale on iTunes on March 25th. Tickets to the 25 LIVE tour will go on sale to the general public the weekend of April 6th.

George Michael has enjoyed one of the most successful and enduring careers in the history of pop music, selling more than 85 million records globally and encompassing seven US No. 1 singles, two Grammy awards, three American Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award and two prestigious Ivor Novello awards for songwriting. His record "Faith" has sold over 20 million copies alone. In addition, Michael has garnered 11 British No. 1 singles and seven British No. 1 albums. He recently was declared the most played British artist on radio over the course of the last 20 years. On March 27th, Michael can be seen making his American acting debut on the new hit ABC series, Eli Stone, in which each episode is titled after one of his songs.

R.E.M. streams ACCELERATE

Radiohead and NIN have already shown that popular artists can use the net on their own terms to successfully release their music. And now R.E.M., progressive from the beginning, is going to stream their latest album, for free, one week before the official release. A clear trend is emerging, especially considering that R.E.M. is doing this with full blessings from their major label, Warner. Seems like at least one of the major labels is finally playing footsie with the net. It's good to see the Athens rockstars edging their label forward.

Full story at ars technica.

And more on the R.E.M. site.

Celemony Melodyne3 Studio Edition

The Celemony plug in for Melodyne pitch manipulation software, can separately adjust individual notes in chords. Although we're used to basic pitch correction, this degree of control has been impossible until now.

Artists such as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Mary J. Blige, and Ricky Martin have all beniefited from Melodyne. Melodyne3's ability to pick individual notes out of chords, and alter them, allows sound guys to make performances impossibly perfect or wildly different.

Peter Neubacker, the creator of Melodyne, describes the new deconstruction/reconstruction magic in the video above. You can get in on the action for around $570, and Melodyne is available from such fine outlets as Sweetwater Sound.

Donna Summer- New Album CRAYONS

THE QUEEN IS BACK
LEGENDARY SINGER SONGWRITER- DONNA SUMMER
IS BACK WITH A NEW STUDIO ALBUM - CRAYONS
IN STORES MAY 20, 2008 ON BURGUNDY RECORDS / SONY BMG

Legendary singer songwriter, DONNA SUMMER, is hard at work on her first studio album of all new material in 17 years!  Crayons is set to release on May 20 2008 on Sony BMG Music Entertainment’s Burgundy Records.

In the thirty plus years that Donna Summer has been making music she has never confined her artistry to just one genre. Although Donna  is, and will always be, “The Queen Of Disco” to many fans, her hits have spanned multiple musical genres from Rock to R&B to Inspirational and of course, Dance.

Summer helped to define the 70’s pop music generation and Crayons will have all the characteristics that made Donna an icon.  Containing a potent mix of the up-tempo tunes and ballads, the new album showcases incredible new material that is written by Donna (who wrote or co-wrote the majority of her hits of the 70's and 80's).  Working with Donna are renowned writers and producers including: Greg Kurstin (Lilly Allen, Pink), Danielle Brisebois (Natasha Bedingfield, New Radicals), JR Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), Evan Bogart (co-writer of Rihanna's smash "SOS" and the son of legendary record executive, Casablanca Records founder and Donna's mentor, Neil Bogart), and Lester Mendez (Shakira, Santana).

Donna describes the background of the title Crayons and the aesthetic of the album as “a menagerie of colors and styles, with hints of different ethnic traditions and sounds. My dream is that when people hear the music it will remind them of their youth, their childhood and the joy and wonderment they felt exploring their first pack of Crayons.”

Donna’s long list of musical accomplishments include: 14 #1 Billboard singles, 12 Gold and Platinum singles, 5 Grammy Awards, 6 American Music Awards, 2 Double Platinum albums, 1 Platinum album, 8 Gold albums. Her song “Last Dance” won both Oscar and Golden Globe awards.

Donna’s “Firsts”:

▪ FIRST female singer to have a #1 album and #1 single on the Billboard charts simultaneously - a feat she accomplished again just a few months later, breaking her own record.
▪ FIRST artist to have three #1 double albums on the Billboard charts consecutively with Live and More , Bad Girls, and On the Radio. (she still remains the only female artist and solo act with this accomplishment).
▪ FIRST female solo artist with three #1 hits in a one year period, topping the charts with the singles “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls” and “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)” – a duet with Barbara Streisand.
▪ FIRST artist to achieve Gold status with a 12 inch for her single “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough).”
▪ FIRST artist ever to be given a Grammy for the category “Best Rock Female Vocal Performance” for her Platinum single “Hot Stuff.”
▪ FIRST artist ever to be given a Grammy for the category “Best Dance Recording” for her song “Carry On.”
▪ FIRST group of artists to be inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2004, alongside The Bee Gees and Barry White.

True Colors 2008 Kickoff

CYNDI LAUPER,THE B-52s, ROSIE O’DONNELL AND SPECIAL GUESTS CELEBRATE THE SECOND ANNUAL TRUE COLORS TOUR PRESENTED BY LOGO AS THEY TAKE THE STAGE TO GET OUT THE VOTE WITH HOST CARSON KRESSLEY

Special Guests On Select Dates to Include Indigo Girls, Joan Armatrading, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Regina Spektor, Tegan and Sara, Wanda Sykes, Nona Hendryx, Deborah Cox, The Cliks

Tour Kicks Off May 31st in Boston at the Bank of America Pavilion

NEW YORK, NY (March 5, 2008) – The True Colors Tour will hit the road again this summer with an exciting new line-up of legendary and up and coming artists including headliners Cyndi Lauper, The B-52s, Rosie O’Donnell with host Carson Kressley and many more. After receiving rave reviews and a successful debut in 2007, the True Colors Tour is expanding to meet demand in many more cities. The tour will kick off Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month on May 31st at Boston’s Bank of America Pavilion.

Produced by True Colors Concerts in partnership once again with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the 24 city North American tour is presented by Logo in support of the newly created True Colors Fund of Stonewall Community Foundation. The concerts feature nearly five hours of nonstop music with exciting special guests appearing on select dates throughout the tour including Wanda Sykes, Tegan and Sara, Regina Spektor, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Joan Armatrading, Indigo Girls, Nona Hendryx, Deborah Cox and The Cliks.

This year’s tour will highlight the need for the LGBT community and their straight allies to get out and make their votes count this fall. HRC and this year’s other non-profit partners – CenterLink (the nation’s LGBT community centers) and Parents, Families, Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) National - are joining with the True Colors Tour to bring together Americans across the country to voice their solidarity for LGBT equality and raise public awareness about the issues that face the LGBT community.

The True Colors Tour was conceived by Cyndi Lauper stemming from her desire to give back to the community for the love and support they have given her throughout her career. The True Colors Tour is a celebration of the basic values and freedoms that should be shared by all Americans. Fans will experience these values through the music of both legendary icons and the newest and coolest acts this generation has to offer.

“I’m so excited and honored that we’re taking True Colors out on the road again this year,” said tour producer and creator Cyndi Lauper. “We had a blast last year and we are proud that the tour also brought about visibility and discussions of issues that LGBT citizens face in our country today. This year I am once again joined on the tour by an array of incredibly talented artists. The tour is a non stop 5 hour music party with a message. This year the party only gets bigger and our message to the fans is to get out and vote in November. The True Colors Tour asks for equality for all, not just for some, that is the principal upon which this country was founded. So let’s celebrate and have fun this summer while we spread the word to get out the vote and all become a part of the changes in this country.”

"True Colors is a good way to get out the vote,” said The B-52s’ Fred Schneider, “and get out of the house and party!"

The True Colors Fund of Stonewall Community Foundation was created this year to generate financial support to directly benefit the tour’s non-profit partners. Funds will be raised through sales of official benefit t-shirts, an EBAY auction of tour and music memorabilia, the True Colors Jewelry Collection by Love & Pride, the tour's Official Jeweler, as well as individual donations to the fund by visitors to the tour’s website. The True Colors Jewelry Collection, selected by Cyndi Lauper from creations made by renowned designer Udi Behr, is currently in production and will launch this June. In addition, through the True Colors Fund, $1 of every ticket sold will once again be donated to HRC.

The Human Rights Campaign is the nation’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization with more than 700,000 members and supporters nationwide. HRC works to secure equal rights for LGBT individuals and families at the federal and state levels by lobbying elected officials, mobilizing grassroots supporters, educating Americans, investing strategically to elect fair-minded officials and partnering with other LGBT organizations.

“Thanks to the overwhelming success of the first True Colors tour last year, we were able to send a loud and unmistakable message to all Americans that it is past time our federal hate crimes laws be updated to include sexual orientation and gender identity. This year, we are going to build on the grassroots power of the tour by launching a massive, nonpartisan voter outreach campaign that will educate, engage and organize equality voters in this year’s election,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “This year’s True Colors Tour will provide us with an historic opportunity to organize our community to achieve a powerful voice in the 2008 elections.”

Tickets for select cities will go on sale beginning March 15th and will be available at www.ticketmaster.com.

The True Colors Tour is presented by Logo and produced by True Colors Concerts, LLC in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign.

Logo, the leading digital cable channel and online source of entertainment from MTV Networks for the LGBT audience, is now available in 30 million homes and has 130 advertising partners supporting the channel which features a mix of original and acquired shows, movies and news.

“Cyndi Lauper helped make MTV famous 25 years ago and Logo is thrilled to partner with her today to help promote fairness and understanding,” said Lisa Sherman, Executive Vice President, General Manager, Logo.

For the second year, SIRIUS Satellite Radio is the exclusive national radio partner of The True Colors Tour. Various SIRIUS talk and music channels will promote True Colors, with flagship station SIRIUS OutQ – America’s LGBT Radio Station - creating a tour-long campaign spotlighting the True Colors mission. SIRIUS OutQ will also exclusively air a True Colors concert performance.

About PFLAG National
Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is the nation's foremost family-based organization committed to the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. PFLAG was started nearly 35 years ago when Jeanne Manford, a mother and schoolteacher, declared her unconditional love for her gay son in the media and at a New York Pride event – a nearly unheard of action at the time. Her monumental action of calling on all parents to speak up in support of their GLBT children gave way to the creation of support groups around the U.S. Since that time, PFLAG has had phenomenal growth, now representing more than 200,000 members and supporters in over 500 chapters throughout the United States. Its members – parents, families, allies, and LGBT people themselves – carry out PFLAG’s three-part mission of support, education, and advocacy for all through strategic local, state, and national initiatives.

"2008 is going to be a tremendous opportunity for change in our country, but it can't happen without everyone's participation -- gay, bi, trans, and straight allies,” said Jody M. Huckaby, Executive Director of PFLAG National. “The True Colors tour gives PFLAG a chance to amplify that message in communities throughout the country."

About Stonewall Community Foundation
Stonewall Community Foundation was created by like-minded donors concerned about sustaining a vibrant and healthy lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Since 1990, the foundation has distributed more than $14 million in grants to more than 450 organizations. Today, Stonewall is a full service community foundation seeking the participation of everyone interested in bettering our community. Stonewall supporters envision a community of shared resources where donors, funders and organizations work together, joined by a commitment to strengthen one another. Stonewall is dedicated to increasing charitable giving within the community today while building a strong endowment for tomorrow.

“Helping Cyndi Lauper, and this amazing collection of artists and performers, realize the charitable goals of this tour is our contribution to the effort and a core part of our mission”, said Stonewall Executive Director, William Mattle. “Stonewall Community Foundation is proud to be the home of the True Colors Fund."

Mariah Carey announces E=MC2

I'm adding a new blog feature. Artists updates and news via the prime LGBT promoter in Sin City. I tried to maintain a section like this on my website (it made my site get crazy big hits). But honestly, blogging it is MUCH easier than using Dreamweaver to update my web page. I am keeping the webpage though.

Read it here before it hits the rags :-) No commentary from me, it's a cut and paste deal. Too easy- enjoy and stay ahead!

The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan’s biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah’s albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured “We Belong Together” (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and “Don’t Forget About Us,” Mariah’s 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley’s 17 #1’s. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles’ all-time high of 20 #1 hits.
